ERS > Team Member > Maxine Houston
Maxine joined ERS in 2018 as a Principal Consultant. Her career began in local government, working in research and development for Dundee District Council, then for Newcastle City Council, where she led an intensive housing management pilot. Since 1998 Maxine has worked for Northumbria University (Northern Economic Research Unit) then Durham University (Policy Research Group) in applied policy research.
On behalf of both DWP and regionally Maxine has led numerous formative and summative evaluations of initiatives tackling social and economic exclusion, working with partnerships and with individual local authorities. Her work has supported the redesign of public service delivery locally, in enterprise and employment support and in social care. Principally for BEIS other projects have focused on skills and on enterprise stimulation initiatives, as well as barriers to business start-up and growth, and business support needs.
