Evaluation of Productivity and Manufacturing Activities

In September 2005 ERS was commissioned to undertake an evaluation of the Productivity and Manufacturing activities funded by One NorthEast. One NorthEast has allocated funds in the order of £20m in these projects, five of which fall under the umbrella of the North East Productivity Alliance (NEPA), an industry led productivity group based in the region.

This work involves reviewing the impact made by the following One Northeast funded projects:

• The Agility Project

• The Business 2 Business Teesside Hub Project

• The Digital Factory Project

• The Dissemination of Best Practice Project

• The Engineering fellows Project

• The North East Manufacturing Advisory Service

• The Workforce Development Project

This complex study comprises of a review of productivity and manufacturing best practice interventions elsewhere, extensive stakeholder consultation, detailed project reviews and a beneficiary survey. The projects have been evaluated in terms of net impact, value for money and where possible indicative GVA impact.
