Resource Mapping Exercise for Burnley Action Partnership

ERS undertook a resource mapping exercise on behalf of Burnley Action Partnership (the LSP for Burnley) to map the public sector resources into Burnley between 2002-3 and 2004-5. The exercise identified resources down to ward level within Burnley across a number of thematic areas over the time period. The exercise was driven by both the expressed desire from government departments for such information, as well as an acknowledgement within Burnley that there is a real need to have an evidence-based approach to the allocation of expenditure across the public sector, across themes or within some of the geographically targeted approaches. The findings of the exercise has helped to inform policy development within Burnley, through the provision of a better evidence base upon which local decisions can be made, and also by producing a framework for future updates of the resource map with which Burnley Action Partnership are able to manage the data collection in the future.
