Peer Research Project

ERS have recently completed a community project on behalf of Touchstone Housing, part of Midlands Heart, in Leicester. Eight residents from Highfields and St Matthews areas of Leicester were recruited and trained as community researchers to find out the sports habits of people in the local area.

The training sessions gave an overview of research methods and provided an opportunity for the community researchers to contribute towards the production of the resident survey. The survey aimed to find out what sports people in Highfields and St Matthews currently do, what sports they would like to do, and what barriers they face when looking to take up these sports.

Following several weeks of consultation, the community researchers achieved an excellent response rate and the proved to be a valuable method for engaging with local communities. A final report was produced by ERS, which Touchstone Housing will be distributing to relevant organisations in Leicester.
