Dudley Local Enterprise Growth Initiative (LEGI) Evidence Base – Dudley MBC

ERS was commissioned by Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council to develop an evidence base to support its Local Enterprise Growth Initiative proposal. The overarching aim of the study was to develop a full and robust evidence base serving the authority’s requirements for developing proposals through the Local Enterprise Growth Initiative.

Nationally, LEGI will be worth £50m in 2006-07, rising to £150m per year by 2008-09 (subject to confirmation in the next spending review). The LEGI will provide flexible, devolved investment in the most deprived areas – determined by the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund areas – to support locally developed and owned proposals that pursue new or proven ways of stimulating economic activity and productivity through enterprise development.
