Local Enterprise Growth Initiative – Business Support Study on behalf of the County Durham LEGI Programme

ERS have been commissioned by the Local Enterprise Growth Initiative (LEGI) Programme in the County Durham districts of Derwentside, Easington, Sedgefield and Wear Valley to carry out a review of existing business support to tenants of managed workspace.

The overarching aim of the study is to assess the effectiveness of existing business support levels and introduce/develop a new ‘best practice’ set of deliverable services targeted at managed workspace tenants.

There are three interlinked phases to the study:

Phase 1 – Assessment of Existing Business Support
Phase 2 – Developing New Levels of Support/Best Practice
Phase 3 – Development of Appropriate Marketing Material

There three phases are being addressed by the following cross cutting approaches:

• Desk based assessment

• Consultations with stakeholders and business support providers in County Durham

• Review of best practice in business support to managed workspace tenants across the country

• Survey of businesses currently located in managed workspace
The aim will be for the study to make recommendations about the type of business support package that will be most appropriate, and most effective, for tenants of managed workspace, with particular consideration given to enterprise development within the LEGI areas of County Durham.
